Wilton Speight announces he will transfer from MI

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported Sunday, citing sources, that many National Football League teams that expect to have a head coaching vacancy believe they can get Harbaugh to leave MI if his standing in the university begins to deteriorate after a third consecutive loss to Ohio State. Enrolling in January of 2014 as a kid from Virginia I didn't know what to expect. Speight's injuries reportedly included three fractured vertebrae, and he didn't suit up the rest of the season.

Speight said on his post he will "use these next four weeks" to decide where he'll transfer.

The Wolverines' QB situation for 2018 wasn't all that clear even with Speight onboard, though he might've started again in the event he stayed healthy.

He thanked Brady Hoke, the coach who recruited him to MI, "for giving a kid with no offers a chance".

Speight committed to MI in 2013 to the staff of Brady Hoke.

"For coming in and making me a better man and a better quarterback", Speight wrote. He was the Wolverines' top quarterback in 2016, tossing 18 touchdowns to just seven interceptions, finishing his career with 22 passing scores in maize and blue.

Saturday's Ohio State-Michigan should feature two starting quarterbacks who won't be back next year.

With Speight's departure and the graduation of John O'Korn, Michigan will start next season with a quarterback recruited by Harbaugh for the first time in his tenure. "I'm excited to keep pursuing my dreams in a new jersey, but will forever root for the boys wearing the winged helmet".
