Angelina Jolie Reveals What Really Ruined Her Marriage

Jolie spoke candidly about her relationship with Pitt while on The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast. I wanted us to do some serious work together [in 2015's By the Sea].

"In some ways it was [good for communication] and in some ways we learned some things", Jolie continued of working on the film, which tells the story of a wealthy couple whose marriage is in crisis.

"Brad is really looking forward to his birthday this year as he's going to have all the kids with him", an insider revealed to Hollywood Life on December 4. I did have my mastectomy, and I did then have an ovarian cancer scare and had that surgery as well, and other things of course that happened in life that you go through'. Why did we feel the way we did when we made it?

Like Pitt in real life apparently, Roland drinks to much and tries to write, while Jolie stares out at the sea, smokes a lot of cigarettes and looks attractive but sad over infertility issues. But really I am just trying to get through my days'.

"I thought it would be a good way for us to communicate", the mother of six explained.

The films ends with both couples having patched up their relationships.

"I didn't want to walk in the room as Jon's daughter", Jolie said of her decision to ditch her famous last name when she entered the film industry.

"My life has been... When you see people that have suffered so much, when you see if only they had a spotlight on them, you don't complain so much about your stupid little problems". Why did I write that exact piece?

"I've had many, many extraordinary very fortunate things happen and it's also been many things over the years that had been challenging, so that wasn't a particular time when I wrote it", the actress and director said.

She continued, "A piece of art can be something that's healing or something that's hard". "We did explore something together", she said.

"By the Sea obviously didn't save the marriage, but she thinks it still allowed them to communicate something that needed to be communicated to each other".

She really felt that it could have helped them to work together on a big project. I still wasn't feeling a complete and whole as a person. "I'm counting on the audience to know that if this was close to us at all, we could never make this film", Jolie told Today in 2015.
