Bharti Airtel, Intex tie up for new smartphones

The pack will offer unlimited calling and 0.5GB data per day for a period of 28 days. Now, the telecom operator has collaborated with Intex, and has launched three budget Android smartphones called the Aqua Lions N1, Aqua A4 and Aqua S3.

Under the special deal, Airtel users have to pay Rs 3,149/- upfront for the handset, after which they are mandated to make 36 monthly recharges of Rs 169 each.

After 18 months, the customer will get a cash refund of Rs 500 and another Rs 1,000 after completion of 36 months, taking the total cash benefit to Rs 1,500, it added.

In addition to the Intex Aqua Lions N1, two more affordable 4G smartphones have been introduced under the initiative - Intex Aqua A4 and Intex Aqua S3. The Intex Aqua Lions N1 comes with a 4-inch full touch WVGA screen and supports dual SIM 4G support - which sounds much better in comparison to JioPhone which comes with a single SIM support and you can use only Jio SIM - basically JioPhone is locked to Jio SIM only and you can't use any other network SIM card on the phone.

"We are really pleased to see the continued positive response to our "Mera Pehla Smartphone" initiative from customers as well as smartphone manufacturers".

According to commentators, this comes as Bharti's third tie up with a domestic handset maker under its strategy to encourage 2G subscribers to opt for entry-level 4G smartphones.

Aqua LIONS N1, Aqua A4 and Aqua S3 are originally priced at Rs 3,799, Rs 4999 and Rs 6649 respectively. It is driven by a 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor coupled by 1GB of RAM, seated upon Spreadtrum SC9832A chipset. On the camera front, the Intex phone comes with 2-megapixel rear camera, while on the front the device boasts a VGA camera. Now, Airtel has partnered with Intex to offer a cashback of Rs. 1,500 on Intex smartphones. It comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor.

Interestingly, Airtel bundles a cashback scheme on these smartphones similar to Vodafone-Micromax partnership. On the photography front, it gets a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel selfie shooter. "We look forward to working with them towards empowering every Indian with a 4G smartphone".

If the customers do not want to recharge with Rs. 169 plan, they have the flexibility of doing recharges of any denomination. Airtel has launched the new devices under its "Mera Pehla Smartphone" initiative. It's worth noting that in order to get the full Rs 1,500 refund, the users will have to make a minimum recharge of Rs 6,000.

Shares of BHARTI AIRTEL LTD. was last trading in BSE at Rs.483.95 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 490.5. All the three smartphones run Android 7.0 Nougat and comes preloaded with apps such as MyAirtel App, Airtel TV, Wynk Music.
