Gene Simmons Sued for Sexual Battery in New Lawsuit

The interview was part of a promotion of Gene Simmons's expansion of the restaurant Rock & Brews in which he has co-ownership.

A woman identified only as "Jane Doe" is suing Kiss band member Gene Simmons, alleging that he groped her and made unwarranted sexual advances during a video interview.

According to the lawsuit, Simmons was interviewed by the woman in a green room area and during it, he grabbed the woman's hand and "forcefully placed it on his knee and held it on his knee".

Paul Stanley, Simmons' band mate with KISS, is also a co-owner.

As the interview progressed, Simmons apparently "turned standard interview questions into sexual innuendos, which made plaintiff Doe extremely uncomfortable", flicked the woman in the throat, provided "incoherent explanation" for his actions, and finally touched the plaintiff's buttocks while they posed for a promotional photograph. That's what Gene Simmons said last month when he was asked about the #MeToo movement, which has arisen from the fall of powerful men such as Harvey Weinstein being outed for alleged sexual assault dating back decades.

Last month, two women - and actress and an artist - traded stories about Simmons on Twitter that he denied through a spokesperson.

According to the lawsuit filed, this is not the first time the rock star has faced legal consequences for sexual harassment.

After the November 1 interview, the woman later posed alongside Simmons for a promotional photograph, when Simmons "reached toward Plaintiff Doe's buttocks and touched it", the documents point out.

"My client is embarrassed and humiliated by the incident with Mr. Simmons", the anonymous woman's attorney, Willie W. Williams, told The San Bernardino Sun during a phone interview.

"She filed suit because she wanted to make a strong statement that this behaviour is unacceptable".

Simmons responded to the reports shortly after.
