Modi inaugurates BR Ambedkar International Centre

Speaking after inaugurating Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi today, the Prime Minister said, social empowerment of people was a commitment for his government. Vice President M Venkiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Speaker of the Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan also offered tributes to the Father of the Indian Constitution. He had laid the foundation stone of this Institute in April 2015.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said that the actual work of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial at Indu Mills will start within a month.

The Congress is more interested in "Baba Bhole" than DRBRAmbedkar these days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday, in a veiled jibe at Rahul Gandhi who has been visiting temples as part of his poll campaign in Gujarat.

"Baba Saheb Ambedkar's contribution to nation building is very important, there had been attempts to undermine his role, but such attempts were unsuccessful", he said after inaugurating the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre For Socio-Economic Transformation (DAICSET), a day after the Dalit icon's 61st death anniversary.

The Centre has come up at 15 Janpath in the national capital.

"I think that this centre is for the youth. where they can see and understand the vision of Babasaheb Ambedkar", the prime minister said. He said the Union Government is making every effort to complete schemes and projects within their intended duration, and the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre represents one illustration of this. It will house a public library, research centre, media-cum-interpretation centre, convention centre, two auditoriums and an exhibition on the "Life of Dr Ambedkar".
