Nvidia Will Sell 1080p Android Ports of Nintendo Games in China

Nvidia Will Sell 1080p Android Ports of Nintendo Games in China

That is why console manufacturers partner with local companies to handle the release and sales. However, this isn't the only partnership Nintendo secured for China.

Not only that but each game will run at 1080p, meaning they'll look much nicer than their Wii originals.

In an unprecedented collaboration for Nintendo, it's working with Nvidia to port a selection of Wii and GameCube games to the Android-powered Shield TV for today's release in China. It's only in China, where Shield TV is launching for the first time, but it's an official tie-up between Nvidia and Nintendo, which could offer some hope, however narrow, that this could make its way to other Shield hardware around the world.

The Shield itself launched in China today and is now retailing for $226, with each remaster going for around $10.

What is unclear for now is how far this deal between Nintendo and Nvidia extends in terms of future title announcements and markets beyond China.

"NVIDIA and Nintendo Co., Ltd. have reached a licensing agreement to bring select game content to SHIELD, available for the Chinese market". Both companies are enjoying the benefits of very healthy Switch sales.

We'll just have to wait and see if these versions see ports to the Nintendo Switch, which uses the same Nvidia Tegra X1 GPU, or if they'll remain exclusive to China.
