We will not allow Atiku to vote at our convention - PDP

On Saturday December 9, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will begin its 2017 elective national convention.

"We call on President Buhari to investigate and ensure that those who want to disrupt the convention refrain from doing so".

According to the Governor, "we are not having challenges as it concerns the convention, we are working to ensure that everything is set, today, we took committee reports and I can tell you that everything is going on smoothly".

"But some overzealous elements in the administration are bent on disrupting it". It is very credible information.

"I am glad they (committee members) are working hard and I have seen that they want to make sure that the convention of the PDP is rancour-free, transparent, and everybody will be given a level playing ground".

"You have prayed for a successful convention of the PDP".

"This is a credible information and that is why we are appealing to President Buhari to please rein in his aides". We have no evidence that the president is aware of this. His room was never occupied.

Dokpesi also said that PDP Governors are performing better than their APC counterparts. We are not the APC, we are not afraid to hold convention.

Dokpesi also said that the PDP built a solid foundation for economic growth over the past 16 years.

The stakeholders made their position known in a communique issued at the end of a meeting on Wednesday night in Abuja, which they submitted to the National Chairman of the party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi.

The lawmaker said that there was no disunity among the party members, pointing out that organizing the convention was a signal of the strength of PDP.

The elder statesman was speaking when he received members of the PDP Convention Planning Committee led by their Chairman and Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, at his residence in Minna, the Niger State capital.

It was not clear whether Atiku had asked for waiver or not even as many analysts said the Wazirin Adamawa would definitely navigate his way ahead of the party's presidential primary next year.

Earlier, Makar disclosed that the visit was in line with the tradition of the PDP where elders and leaders of the party are consulted for the right decisions to be taken.
