Wilshere to be offered new Arsenal deal

He also hinted that the club are likely to be active when the transfer window opens next week. The French coach revealed that he will be active in the upcoming transfer market and indicated that there could be exits and arrivals.

Wilshere has impressed in recent Premier League starts and has apparently done enough to convince Wenger to hand him a new deal, with his current contract expiring in the summer. "I believe if he can meet a point of agreement financially, he will want to stay".

Allardyce had said of Giroud: "He doesn't want to move north of London, I don't think".

Wenger also addressed the future of his attacking duo Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud, who have both been linked with moves in January.

Wenger has indicated that Sanchez will remain at the club at the end of the season, but could change their mind if a big money offer arrives in the New Year.

He said: "No, honestly, no".

Giroud, 30, has hit over 70 Premier League goals for Arsenal since his 2012 move from Montpellier, but has just one Premier League game this season.

The midfielder will be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the first team at The Emirates as he aims to win a place in the England squad for next summer's World Cup.

Addressing his news conference on Wednesday, Wenger dismissed comments made by new Everton boss Allardyce.

Giroud, now out with a hamstring issue until January, had said earlier this season that he was "very close" to joining Everton, but obviously made a decision to stay put.

"I think that way around we would be much better than speculating who I am going to let go and who I am not because the then know or feel there is future for them".
