Woman burns her house down in attempt to kill bedbugs

A United States woman has accidentally set her apartment block ablaze when trying to eradicate it of bugs.

Three people were injured and 10 people have been left homeless after a woman accidentally started a fire while trying to kill bed bugs, according to authorities.

A resident who uploaded video to Facebook of the incident told the television station: 'Where I got here the whole house was on fire'.

The unidentified Cincinnati woman was dousing the infestation with the highly flammable liquid near an open flame Friday when she inadvertently sparked the conflagration, officials said. The fire then spread to six other apartments.

A total of seven adults and three teenagers have been displaced from the five-unit, multi-family home.

Eight people were left homeless on November 28 when a 13-year-old boy set fire to an apartment building after dousing a bed bug with alcohol.

The Cincinnati Fire Department has advised residents to hire professionals to battle future infestations, per a department announcement.

Three adults suffered from smoke inhalation and were immediately taken to hospital but are expected to make a full recovery, according to Fire Chief Randy Freel.
