49ers linebacker Reuben Foster arrested for marijuana possession

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested on a charge of second-degree marijuana possession Friday in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

He was the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Month in November. The former Alabama product played in 10 games past year with San Francisco, still finishing second on the team with 59 tackles.

Last year's 31st overall draft pick in the first round, Foster finished as the 49ers second-leading tackler despite missing half the season with injuries. Prior to being chosen in the draft, he was dismissed from the NFL Scouting Combine, having gotten into a confrontation with a hospital worker.

A former top recruit, Foster shined as an upperclassman for Nick Saban's squad and was named first-team All-SEC while also winning the Butkus Award for the nation's top linebacker in 2016. His urine sample was found to have been diluted, which was treated the same as a positive test. Foster played his rookie season in 2017 with the 49ers.
