Ant McPartlin announces divorce from wife Lisa

The 41-year-old responded to a follower who had told her that she was "throwing her marriage away" and that she didn't "understand" the painkiller addiction that Ant had been going through.

The former couple had been together for 23 years having first met on the Smash Hits tour in Newcastle in 1994 when he was 18 and Lisa then 17, was performing with teen pop group Deuce.

It continued: "Ant asks for privacy at this hard time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families".

A source close Ant recently said: "Ant and Lisa are definitely over".

The Sun On Sunday furthermore quotes a source who reveals that "this was a tough decision for Ant but he has to do the right thing for his health".

Ant McPartlin has confirmed his divorce from wife Lisa after months of speculation as to the status of the couple's marriage.

However, the insider added that the Geordie TV presenter hopes to make things "as easy as possible" for Lisa, adding that he will "look after her in the settlement".

Ant made a triumphant return to I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here at the end of 2017, looking happy and healthy with best friend Dec out in Australia where they film the award-winning show, after his stint in rehab earlier in the year to tackle his problems with alcohol, substance abuse and prescription drugs.
