Anthony Joshua-Joseph Parker fight moves a step closer

Anthony Joshua-Joseph Parker fight moves a step closer

"I'm working on it".

The tweet comes after Fury confirmed on Wednesday that he was reapplying for his boxing licence, which followed a bold claim that he could beat fellow Brit Joshua in his first fight back.

Fury has been out of the ring since November 2015, when he shocked Wladimir Klitschko with a twelve round unanimous decision to capture the WBO, IBO, WBA, IBF world titles in Germany. "It's heavy-handed. I've apologised and told them we were drunk".

"I'm still a street kid at heart - don't let the nice suit fool you - so I have to balance not slamming them back, while letting them know I am not to be fooled with".

"[Parker's promoter] David Higgins landed this morning and we are meeting this afternoon to plough the agreement and solve any outstanding issues", Hearn told Sky Sports.

"It's not signed yet but hopefully with this trip to the United Kingdom we get it signed", he says.

"We are prepared to sit down and make that fight now with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is as well, because he called me straight after Tyson was texting him the other day".

He said there had been difficulties in organising a USA fight "so we're looking to bring the other guy Joseph Parker, who is a tidy champion". "We're dotting the i's and crossing the t's". In the unlikely event the contract is not signed, Parker will return to Auckland.

Barring any late hitches it is expected that Parker will fly to London over the weekend to sign and meet face-to-face with Joshua at a press conference next week.

"It's exciting and it's good to get him back in the ring".

And while Parker is set to bank about $12million from the fight (not $30m as mentioned in some recent reports) - and even more in the rematch should he be successful - he said money wasn't a motivating factor. Everyone has their job. "Being involved in a big fight is exciting - it's going to be a little part of history".
