Chris Brown has a done a pretty good job at staying out of trouble lately but the singer is once again facing problems. He could be charged with having a restricted species without a permit, which is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of six months in jail.

However according to police, several people took action on Chris and actually notified California's Department of Fish and Wildlife, who opened an investigation on him.

According to TMZ, the 28-year-old Grammy victor has already voluntarily surrendered his female baby capuchin monkey Fiji, and the case has been turned over to the L.A. City Attorney.

The city's wildlife department's employee Captain Patrick Foy has said that Chris was not at home when the search on his home in Los Angeles was carried out but his staff handed the primate over to the authorities and he agreed to co-operate with them.

Blame social media. After Brown posted a photo of the monkey, named Fiji, with his three-year-old daughter, Royalty, everyone was up in arms because they didn't it was safe for the toddler to own a wild animal. "Now spending taxpayer money on investigating monkey business, this completes the circle on his absurdity". Internet goers believed the monkey was a gift to Royalty and feared for her safety. Chris however, told everyone to chill.
