Exec Clears Up Catt Sadler Salary Stories

News on December 19 - quitting after she learned that co-anchor Jason Kennedy was earning almost twice her salary - isn't the first time pay-equity issues have landed on an entertainment news anchor desk.

Berwick was not the only person to be asked about Sadler's claim during Tuesday's Television Critics Association panels.

Berwick said she was speaking out on the issue to address the "misinformation" about the topic.

E! is defending the large pay discrepancy between Catt Sadler and her former E!

She said Sadler's role on E! was on the daytime programming side while Kennedy is on primetime and covers red carpets.

"Our employees' salaries are based on their roles and their expertise, regardless of gender", she explained, according to Variety. "So we wish Catt well, but I hope that sets the record straight".

TV host Catt Sadler announced she would be leaving her post as an "E!"

Catt Sadler made a decision to leave the entertainment network just over two weeks ago after 12 years of hard work. Or at least come close?

"I was so shocked to hear that E! doesn't believe in paying their female co-host the same as their male co-host", Messing said. How can I accept an offer that shows they do not value my contributions and paralleled dedication all these years? "How can I remain silent when my rights under the law have been violated?" she questioned.

"E! compensates employees fairly and appropriately based on their roles, regardless of gender", an E! spokeswoman said in a statement at the time. "We stand with you, Catt".

Rancic did her best to recover from the awkward interaction. And at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (07Jan18), the network was blasted by Will & Grace star Debra who called out E! I mean, we get paid a lot, so it's hard to complain, but the disparity is insane", adding, "Compared to men, in most professions, women make 80 cents to the dollar. We stand with her and that's something that can change tomorrow.
