Expulsion proposed for Minnesota center Reggie Lynch after sexual misconduct incidents

Expulsion proposed for Minnesota center Reggie Lynch after sexual misconduct incidents

Gleeson noted Lynch requested a review from the Student Sexual Misconduct Subcommittee, which allows him to practice with the Gophers and remain enrolled in the school for the time being.

"He fully cooperated with a university investigation on his own without the presence of a lawyer; he attended multiple interviews with university individuals on his own where he was asked clarifying questions.", attorney Ryan Pacyga said at a news conference.

The U of M's Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action office found Lynch responsible for sexual misconduct in an alleged assault April 7, 2016.

This comes after John Shipley of the Pioneer Press reported Thursday the EOAA recommended Lynch be suspended until August 2020 for violating the school's sexual misconduct policy in a separate incident that occurred in the spring of 2016. The Gophers' athletic department suspended Lynch indefinitely, but he was not kicked off the team.

The lawyer for University of Minnesota basketball player Reggie Lynch says he denies all sexual assault allegations against him. Pacyga said he is unsure if the hearings for the two allegations will be combined.

But Pacyga cast doubt on whether Lynch will be able to have a fair hearing because of a #metoo climate in which women are sharing stories of sexual assault and misconduct against them.

The press conference came a day after a third accuser provided details from the EOAA Office investigation related to an incident in April 2016, according to the Star Tribune.

"The specifics of my case being discussed is a violation of the privacy I've tried to maintain during this process", wrote the woman, who identified herself as Alex. The apparent lack of respect for victims of sexual assault in general made me fearful to report. Pacyga said the allegation resulting in a suspension recommendation involves digital penetration, while the allegation resulting in the expulsion recommendation involves forced intercourse and oral sex. "I will continue to tell the truth about what happened to me". He was never criminally charged in the case, and the EOAA cleared him. He said in both cases they were not investigated until 18 months following the alleged incident, which would erase a lot of potential evidence. Law enforcement could have come in and collected the bedding, could have had the accuser do a sexual assault exam where she would have DNA swabs done and they would test for DNA and semen. "Reggie Lynch is in for the fight of his life and I'm afraid because he's already been denied a fair investigation by virtue of evidence that can not be collected".
