Hillary Clinton tweets about Trump's 'ignorant, racist views'

Trump on Thursday reportedly referred to the nations as "s**thole countries" in a bipartisan meeting on immigration reform.

Republican Sens. David Perdue of Georgia and Tom Cotton of Arkansas, who both attended the Thursday meeting, said in a statement that they "do not recall the president saying these comments specifically".

In a later tweet, Trump focused on remarks attributed to him about Haiti, saying: "Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country".

Trump then suggested that the United States should instead bring more people from countries such as Norway, whose prime minister he met with Wednesday.

But Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of SC, whom Durbin said had voiced objection to Trump's comments during the meeting, issued a statement that did not dispute the remarks. █ Trump cancels United Kingdom visit Trump on Thursday cancelled a "working visit" to the United Kingdom planned next month to launch new U.S. embassy, blaming a "bad deal" to relocate base from central London to an "off location". It is a lovely story of America, and that is a great story and that is the story we have today and that is a story we had yesterday and that is what makes this country so exceptional and unique in the first place. Its certainly true that, for many people, Trumps willingness to say whatever he wants is appealing, granted that the things he wants to say often jibe with the things they want to hear.

Botswana summoned the U.S. ambassador to the country to "clarify if Botswana is regarded as a "shithole" country", according to a foreign ministry statement which called Mr Trump's comments "irresponsible, reprehensible and racist".

Other supporters likened Trump's comments to locker room banter ― we've heard that before ― or even "kitchen table" talk, suggesting the president was just mimicking conversations that happen in some corners of the USA every day.

The president added that he wanted "a merit based system of immigration and people who will help take our country to the next level" and "safety and security" for Americans. "Leaders who actually cared about their people would do exactly that". We have Haitians who are driving cabs all throughout this country. Jeffress says Trump has courage and deserved gratitude for his leadership.

The President has since denied the comments; however, following Trump's denial, Sen.

'You've seen the comments in the press, ' Durbin said. "Why do we want all these people from s--hole countries?" What this episode also does is shatter the endless euphemisms and dissembling that Trump and his allies have employed to obscure a related truth: That the nationalism at the core of Trumpism is heavily driven by a reactionary backlash to the current ethnic and racial mix of the US population - it is white nationalism, despite all the what-me-racist protestation to the contrary.

After the January 12, 2010 quake, the US came to Haiti's assistance and was the largest provider of aid.

And in the aftermath of revelations that Trump had referred to African countries and Haiti as "shitholes" on Thursday, they quickly offered rationalizations. He went on to say that he had "a wonderful relationship with Haitians".

"As someone from South Shithole, Trevor is deeply offended by the president's remarks", The Daily Show tweeted of its South African-born host, Trevor Noah.

"He said 'Put me down for wanting more Europeans to come to this country".

The World Bank on Friday tweeted that sub-Saharan Africa's economic growth this year is forecast at 3.2 percent.

An emotional Sunny Hostin on "The View" Friday, noting that her husband's family is from Haiti, said she's always resisted labeling Trump because she couldn't look into his heart.
