Indian-Origin Google Techie Arrested For Molesting US Woman

A 25-year-old Non Resident Indian has been arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly molesting a United States national at a five star hotel situated at Patel Marg in New Delhi district.

Speaking to news agency IANS, Additional Commissioner of Police BK Singh said,"Kharbanda, a California-based Non-Resident Indian (NRI), met the victim in the lounge and introduced himself to her". She said she met the man near the hotel's pool area, and he invited her to his room for a drink. The next day, she went away for a meeting in Jaipur and returned in the evening.

As per the statement of the woman, she started living in the hotel from January 6 onwards. She told cops she had come to Delhi for a business project and to meet some associates in Gurgaon. He then took her to his room and groped her. Police said the woman had alerted the hotel's security and management staff about the alleged incident, following which police were informed. Police said the accused, 25-year-old Anmol Singh Kharbanda, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. Following the complaint by the victim, Kharbanda was arrested from the hotel after being interrogated. On January 10, she returned to Taj and registered a complaint with police. The woman, too, was in the country for work, police said. We have been in contact with the lady guest, a formal complaint with the authorities was also facilitated by the hotel team.The hotel will cooperate with the authorities in any investigation.

"She pushed him away and ran out", Singh said.
