James Franco Speaks Up About Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Him

After the actor won two Golden Globes at the weekend, he also picked up the Best Actor in a Comedy award at the Critics Choice Awards 2018 on Thursday night for Disaster Artist.

After he won a best-actor Golden Globe on Sunday night, actress Violet Paley accused Franco on Twitter of sexual misconduct.

Three former acting students of James Franco have alleged he created environments which were sexually exploitative, and withheld roles in his film projects for up-and-coming performers who were willing to appear nude.

"I got it in my head pretty quickly that, OK, you don't say "no" to this guy", Tither-Kaplan told The LA Times.

The pair then fell out of touch, but a week after the New York Times reported on multiple allegations of sexual harassment against Harvey Weinstein in October 2017, Paley emailed Franco to express her discomfort with what she said happened in the vehicle. Paley insists "that time wasn't consensual".

Said Tither-Kaplan, "I feel there was an abuse of power, and there was a culture of exploiting non-celebrity women, and a culture of women being replaceable."

"We were all these up-and-coming actors who were so hopeful".

When none of the women on set volunteered to get topless for Franco, Dusome and Chmiel say that Franco got visibly angry.

"I pride myself on taking responsibility for things that I have done", Franco told "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert.

The news outlet said in a statement that "given the controversy surrounding recent allegations", it had canceled the discussion, according to The Associated Press.

"I was sent a couple of the tweets". She said he was initially a "good friend and mentor", then the relationship became "romantic". All actresses were aware of the nudity scenes ahead of time. Regardless, Franco says that he still supports them because they finally have a voice. "I did not receive any complaints".

James Franco speaks onstage during at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on July 26, 2017 in Beverly Hills, Calif. "I have to. I don't know what else to do", he said at the time. Luckily, it is not up to us to make that decision, but now it seems like a court of law may have to do so.

Franco's attorney told The Times the account of Franco removing the protective guards was "not accurate", and pointed to Tither-Kaplan's positive social media comments about her experience on the set.

Simon added that the pay cabler has not been approached with any complaints regarding Franco. Though his accusations do not come close to those lobbed at folks like Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein, the actor is already facing professional consequences. Franco stars on the HBO porn drama series in dual roles.

"If I have to take a knock because I am not going to try and actively refute things then I will, because I believe in it that much". I have to do that to maintain my well-being. "If I've done something wrong, I will fix it. I think, well, the ones I read were not accurate, but one of the things that I've learned is that this is a conversation that obviously needs to be had", he said.
