Kagiso Rabada again at the top of the ICC Test rankings

One of Chris Morris, Andile Phehlukwayo, Lungi Ngidi or Duanne Olivier, all of whom have significantly less experience than Rabada, is set to earn a spot in the starting XI, so it will be up to Rabada, Vernon Philander and Morne Morkel to take on some extra responsibility as the series moves upcountry. Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh and Mitchell Marsh have all achieved career-best rankings due to their centuries in the Sydney Test.

Kagiso Rabada has replaced James Anderson as the No 1 ranked Test bowler, after helping South Africa to a 72-run victory in the first Test against India at Newlands on Monday.

Rabada, who was one of the stars in South Africa's successful campaign in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in the UAE in 2014, returned figures of three for 34 and two for 41 against a star-studded India batting line-up.

Root earned 26 points from the fifth and final Ashes Test in Sydney, in which he was dismissed once while scoring 141 runs, but Kohli dropped 13 points after his contributions of five and 28 in Cape Town.
