Meunier says the bear which hit him was five foot tall and there were two others in his garden too.
At the time, Meunier remarked upon his dog 'suddenly' running back inside, seconds later it became clear to the dog walker why that may have been the case.
The attack left an 8-inch gash across his forehead and down his right cheek that required 41 stitches, according to WINK. "It could've been a totally different story".
Meunier says the bear's claws almost ripped open his face.
