Mark Wahlberg reportedly demanded $1.5m before approving Christopher Plummer's casting

Mark Wahlberg reportedly demanded $1.5m before approving Christopher Plummer's casting

However, it was revealed that Mark Wahlberg received $1.5m (£1.1m) to reshoot his scenes, while co-star Michelle Williams was paid less than $1,000, taking an $80 per diem fee instead.

The pay disparity arrives as the entertainment industry continues to be rocked by the downfall of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, a flood of sexual misconduct allegations against dozens of other powerful Hollywood figures and a rising #MeToo movement.

The film made headlines previous year when Scott chose to re-shoot Kevin Spacey's scenes following allegations of sexual harassment against the actor. The second source, a Hollywood insider, said that Wahlberg's lawyer formally vetoed the Oscar victor in a letter to financiers until his demand for more payment was met.

Although Wahlberg is yet to respond to the latest reports, they come after it was reported that Michelle Williams was paid less than $1,000 (£730) for the reshoot.

The actress, who plays the kidnapped boy's mother in the film, previously told the newspaper about her reaction when director Ridley Scott's team called her to return to the set during Thanksgiving: "I said I'd be wherever they needed me, whenever they needed me". According to TMZ's report, the Transformers alum also agreed to redo the scenes with Williams and Spacey's replacement, Christopher Plummer, but he and Scott did not discuss his compensation at the time.

When Ridley Scott said in an interview with in December that he and his cast - excluding Plummer who was paid - were working for free to reshoot the movie in the wake of the Spacey debacle, he was unaware of Wahlberg's side deal, and was reportedly left feeling betrayed and 'hung out to dry'.

Williams, Globe-nominated for her role in All the Money in the World, was one of them. But it wasn't just Williams who chose not to profit off the scandal.

Of course, the most frustrating part of all is both Wahlberg and Williams are represented by the same agency, William Morris Endeavor. I said, 'Will you come back [and reshoot]?' They said, 'Absolutely.' I said, 'For how much?' They said, 'For free.' Everyone came back for nothing.
