OnePlus to launch flagship phone in 5 months; will feature Snapdragon 845

OnePlus just announced that its next flagship phone, the OnePlus 6, will be available as soon as late in the second quarter of 2018.

OnePlus set sales records late past year with the launch of the OnePlus 5T, which is now the company's fastest and best-selling phone. Recently Vivo, which is owned by BBK Electronics, who also own OnePlus, has developed an in-display fingerprint sensor. Turns out, the so-called OnePlus 6 will be coming out sometime in June.

Few other details were revealed about the OnePlus 6. The OnePlus 6 is expected to adopt a similar hardware approach to what Apple uses for iPhone X, which makes the use of an infrared 3D camera module. Interestingly, a list of devices set to carry the Snapdragon 845 processor was leaked last month, with the same June date listed against the OnePlus 6's name. The CEO also pointed out that the OnePlus 5T is now the company's fastest and best-selling product.

OnePlus has a foolproof plan ready for 2018. OnePlus 5T was one of the favourite smartphones of 2017, thanks to its killer combination of top-notch features and specifications in a reasonably priced package.

"If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we'll be very happy to experiment", Lau said through a translator.

Apart from this feature, the OnePlus 6 might come with an under-glass fingerprint scanner too.

When it comes to specs, Pete didn't reveal much but it is confirmed that it will run on Qualcomm's newest Snapdragon 845 processor.

In the U.S., 85% to 90% of the customers buy their smartphones on a contractual basis.

Furthermore, Lau also said that the company would begin its talk with carriers in the United States which would help them increase their brand awareness as well as the sales volume.

OnePlus has a relatively small presence in the USA, something which it's trying to break out of this year.
