Raiders to hire former Packers Offensive Coordinator Edgar Bennett

Yes, the Oakland Raiders have a new coach in town: Jon Gruden, who has earned the name "Chucky" from the horror film series.

Gruden was given the nickname Chucky during his first coaching stint with the Raiders for his resemblance to the horror movie doll when he scowled in anger on the sideline. Gruden already has the top job.

The 53-year-old Cable worked as the Raiders offensive line coach in 2007 before becoming the team's interim head coach four games into the 2008 season after Lane Kiffin was sacked.

Cable is expected to become the offensive line coach for the Oakland Raiders, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday. The Raiders had seven straight losing seasons before finishing.500 in what would be Cable's last season with the club.

Cable, 53, was with the Raiders from 2007 to 2010, including a 44-game stretch as head coach from 2008 until his firing after the 2010 season, posting a 17-27 record. ESPN also aired a report where three women accused Cable of domestic violence. Davis docked Cable's pay in relation to that litigation.

General manager Reggie McKenzie said Tuesday at Gruden's introductory news conference two minority candidates, Raiders tight end coach Bobby Johnson and University of Southern California offensive coordinator Tee Martin, were interviewed.

Gruden was on the Green Bay coaching staff from 1992-94 while Bennett was the Packers running back.
