Snapchat to let users share stories outside the app

No, we're not talking about jumping ship to Instagram Stories.

Starting Wednesday, select Snapchat users will be able to access a new feature to share some of the Stories - video, image and text posts - on the web, for people who don't have the messaging and media app.

"You can also search keywords in Search to see Snaps from the community". The links do disappear after 30 days, however. It's also aiming to make it easier for outside parties, including media outlets, to incorporate Snap-based content in their reporting. It doesn't matter how surprising, or important, or hilarious, or timely any single story on Snapchat is to anyone on Facebook; to the average user on Facebook, Snapchat just doesn't exist-while the shareable media platforms of Instagram and even Twitter do. They can simply view the Story you shared through a new Story player on the company's official website. Previously, Snapchat users didn't have the option to share Snapchat content outside of the app, but the new update, available on the new, redesigned Snapchat - now available to a limited number of users (such as Snapchat users in Canada and Australia) - will allow users of the app to send a link to view content on Snapchat.com by sending on a link or sharing it on another platform. Official Stories are only available for 24 hours.

Instead, three types of stories will be available to share outside of the app: Official Stories, Our Stories and Search Stories.
