Taika Waititi's What We Do in the Shadows series gets pilot order

It's just been announced that a 30-minute pilot for a TV series based on the film has been picked up by the FX network, and Waititi and Clement will both be returning to the helm.

Waititi's career has taken off after the success of Thor: Ragnarok, a Marvel comedy movie released in October a year ago that was a critical hit and box office success story.

Furthermore, the series has secured original creators Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) and Jemaine Clement (Flight Of The Conchords) as executive producers, and Waititi is expected to direct at least the pilot episode now ordered by FX.

Clement and Waititi are executive producing, along with Scott Rudin (The Night Of), Paul Simms (Flight of the Conchords), and Scott Rudin Productions' Garrett Basch and Eli Bush. A full cast list hasn't been revealed yet, but top British talent including Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak (Phonejacker) and Natasia Demetriou are all signed up.

Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi are bringing What We Do in the Shadows to the small screen.

The project will be different to the TVNZ spinoff TV series created by Waititi and Clement called Wellington Paranormal, a follow-up mockumentary to the 2014 film about the police officers, Mike Minogue and Karen O'lear.

The film about a group of vampires who live together in Wellington, New Zealand, earned $6.9 million on a $1.6 million budget.

Given the fact that Clement and Waititi starred in the original, plenty of fans want to see Vladislav and Viago reunite but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

Dear Hollywood, can we let Taika Waititi direct everything?
