BLACK CAT/SILVER SABLE Film Adds CAPTAIN MARVEL & KING KONG VS. GODZILLA Screenwriters

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Chaos Walking scribe Lindsey Beer and Captain Marvel writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet have been tapped to pen Silver & Black, Sony Pictures' upcoming film that centers around Silver Sable and Black Cat.

The Secret Life of Bees and Beyond the Lights writer-director Gina Prince-Bythewood will direct Silver & Black.

One of Beer's latest projects, based on the young adult series of novels Chaos Walking, will debut next March, though she's also worked for in Paramount writers rooms for franchises like Transformers and Star Trek, as well as the upcoming Kong vs. Godzilla movie for Warner Bros.

Silver & Black will be a standalone adaptation for the femme fatales Black Cat (Felicia Hardy) and Silver Sable (Silver Sablinova) from Marvel Comics. Created by Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz, Silver Sable is a mercenary war criminal hunter. As the THR report announcing their involvement mentioned: director Gina Prince-Bythewood, Chris Yost, and Lisa Joy all worked on previous drafts of the narrative at various points in the film's development. Although the Wild Pack was founded by Sable's father, she herself becomes its leader. Robertson-Dworet worked on the upcoming Captain Marvel and Tomb Raider. Black Cat is an acrobatic cat burglar whose real name is Felicia Hardy.

With Tom Holland's Peter Parker reportedly popping up in "Venom", appearing alongside Tom Hardy's title character, there's a fair chance that the webslinger will appear in the "Silver & Black" flick.

Silver & Black is set for a February 8, 2019 release. Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal will produce Silver and Black. Each of these women has a wealth of experience on geek-centric projects that involve strong female protagonists, which is arguably what something like Silver & Black needs to set itself apart and do its two female heroes justice.
