Donald Trump Jr. slams 'disgusting individuals' after wife's hospitalisation

The letter was reportedly addressed to Donald Trump Jr., her husband, and she had opened it.

Previously, a white powder was sent to the home of President Donald Trump's younger son Eric in 2016, but was also found to be harmless.

The letter arrived at a flat owned by Mr Trump Jr but occupied by his wife's mother.

Secret Service Special Agent Jeffrey Adams acknowledged the suspicious mailing but declined to give details.

'This is an active investigation and we can not comment any further'.

Mrs. Trump was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Cornell Medical Center out of an abundance of caution, but further testing showed the powder was off-the-shelf cornstarch.

She and two other people in the apartment at the time were decontaminated by firefighters who attended the scene.

As if the Monday work grind isn't enough of a downer, on Monday, Donald Trump Jr.'s wife woke up to more than she expected.

This isn't the first time the Trump family has had a scare regarding a mysterious substance in their mail. "Truly disgusting that certain individuals choose to express their opposing views with such disturbing behavior", Trump Jr. tweeted.

Officials have been cautious whenever envelopes containing white powder are sent in the mail since 2001 when envelopes filled with anthrax killed several people. It wasn't immediately clear what the substance was, but being that she's the daughter-in-law of the sitting President of the United States, they didn't want to take any chances. After the media stunt, the New York Post ran an article with the headline: "Trump Jr".

Donald Trump Jr was propelled into the limelight when he admitted meeting a Russian attorney during the 2016 U.S. election campaign.

There was also a letter that threatened Donald Trump to pull out of the presidential race or harm would be inflicted on his family members.
