Loris Karius 'feeling comfortable' with Virgil van Dijk in Liverpool defence

Liverpool travel to Porto in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie on Wednesday and Karius, who is likely to start the match, is keen for the Merseyside club to take control.

The former Sunderland stopper's lack of game-time combined with reports of Liverpool's desire to sign a new goalkeeper could soon lead to the end of his near five year stint on Merseyside, but Klopp chose to remain non-committal over the 29-year-old's future as he focuses exclusively on his side's clash with Porto.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits he does not know what the future holds for out-of-favour goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

The German has played just 18 Premier League games for Liverpool since joining last summer, but with 91 Bundesliga appearances behind him it's clear that Karius has some ability and potential.

When asked whether Liverpool could win the Champions League or Premier League with Karius in goal, Wise told Sky Sports: "I'm not 100 per cent sure".

"There were a few really good saves, important saves, good decisions - really smart decisions with quick restarts and stuff like that. The clean sheet was great for all of us".

"I am feeling good and getting consistent game time helps a lot", the 24-year-old is quoted as saying by The Telegraph.

"It's my job to help the team", he said.

"To be honest I have not made the final decision but it is not the same situation as it was", Klopp said.

Neil Lennon was blown away by Virgil van Dijk's first training session after signing for Celtic - and predicted the defender was destined for huge things.

'My confidence is coming and growing, I'm getting used to the game time again.
