DeAndre Hunter: Will miss NCAA Tournament

DeAndre Hunter: Will miss NCAA Tournament

The Virginia Cavaliers will enter the 2018 NCAA Tournament without De'Andre Hunter who has a broken left wrist, as announced by the University on Tuesday evening. He is not expected to play again for at least 10 to 12 weeks. Hunter was named the ACC's sixth man of the year after the regular season, and was also named to the All-ACC freshman team.

The situation is somewhat reminiscent to when Justin Anderson missed time toward the end of the 2014-15 season with a broken finger. U.Va was a No. 2 seed in the '15 tournament, and a No. 5 seed in last season's tournament, and lost in the second round in both seasons.

The most promising NBA prospect on college basketball's top-ranked team will miss the NCAA tournament. He reached double figures in 16 games and was Virginia's leading scorer in six contests. Hunter logged 18 minutes off the bench and scored 10 points against that game.

The No. 1 overall seed Cavs will face 16 seed Maryland-Baltimore County in their opening round on Friday night. He banked in a dramatic game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer at Louisville on March 1. He also had 22 points in a victory at Miami on February 18.
