Harvey Weinstein: UK police investigating allegations by 10 women

This bring the total number of women who have reported Weinstein to British police to 10. "On 8 February an allegation was received that the man sexually assaulted a woman (Victim 10) in Westminster in the mid-1990s".

The insurers' move comes after Scotland Yard received its 10th allegation of sexual assault against Weinstein, 65.

Officers have now received 15 separate allegations of sexual assault on dates ranging from the 1980s to 2015.

Units of the insurer have together issued 80 policies to Weinstein and his family between 1994 and 2018, including coverage for personal liability, according to Chubb.

The Weinstein Co said late on Sunday that the USA film studio, whose ex-chairman Harvey Weinstein has been accused of sexual harassment and assault, planned to file for bankruptcy in the coming days after talks to sell itself collapsed.

Still, Weinstein's attorneys have asked Chubb to cover his defense costs for the suits including a NY case brought by a former assistant who says the film producer forced her to clean up his semen and used condoms. She told Brewer that she resisted Weinstein's advances - and also declined Brewer's offer to call the police but instead asked him to keep Weinstein away from her.

The documents continued: "The damages alleged in the Underlying Lawsuits arose out of pre-meditated, forcible sexual assault, pervasive and egregious sexual harassment, physical assault and battery and other intentional and deliberate conduct by Mr Weinstein".

The allegations against Weinstein subsequently triggered similar allegations against other influential men worldwide, including other Hollywood stars like Kevin Spacey, and sparked the #MeToo movement on social media, created to bring attention to sexual harassment and misconduct suffered throughout the world.

Stars to have detailed allegations include Rose McGowan, Asia Argento, Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow.

A spokesperson for Harvey Weinstein has previously said that any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied.
