Jose Mourinho: 'Referee right not to send off Jurgen Klopp'

Substitute Fellaini appeared to clip Mané inside the box in the 82nd minute, but referee Craig Pawson signalled for play to continued.

Jurgen Klopp's touchline antics at Old Trafford on Saturday have received the unexpected support of Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho.

"This is not what you expect from a great club like Manchester United, but Mourinho said after the game he doesn't care what anything thinks about him and he always seems to take delight in destroying attacking teams and winning on his own terms".

"It was a clear penalty with Fellaini on Mane, in situations like this you need the right decision".

"First of all, we don't need to concede the two goals in the first half; for the rest, it was hard to break them down, they sit and hope for the best on the break".

Speaking at his post-match news conference on Saturday, Liverpool FC manager Klopp said: "We have to respond, 100 per cent".

Liverpool found themselves two goals down at half-time after two goal-kicks that were won superbly by Romelu Lukaku were twice punished by Rashford. "We made not the best of it but we made something of it". We didn't score before half time and then in the second half we chased the game. The two situations that lost us the game had nothing to do with their style our our style'.

On why Liverpool weren't at their best, he added: "I have no explanation for that because it's clear". He was upset with a player and the same happened to me against Crystal Palace, where I was upset with my player and therefore [the officials] understood that too.

"You know why? Well we might not win the league this year, but everybody loves watching them play, I love watching them play".
