Nintendo Switch 5.0 Firmware Released, Here's What It Changes

Yes, the newest update to the Switch Parental Controls App directly mentions the 5.0.0 Switch update, and states that some of the new parental control features will not be available until the launch of the new Switch system firmware. Now the real firmware 5.0.0 is here and its a rather boring update with no major new features.

Nintendo this morning dropped a huge firmware update for the Nintendo Switch console, which now brings the Switch system to version 5.0.

The update, which was outed earlier today, also adds 24 new ARMS and Kirby-themed user icons, as well as the ability to filter news to content from specific channels or just unread news. When prompted to enter your Parental Controls PIN, press and hold the + Button to change between input methods. In addition, captured videos in the Album will be restricted by Parental Controls depending on the Restricted Software setting and Software Rating Organization.

Nintendo Switch has continue d to evolve with the system software updates it gets occasionally.

The Nintendo Switch will automatically download the firmware 5.0.0 firmware while it is connected online.

When you're ready to install the update, choose "update" to install. Play-Time Limit restrictions will still apply even when the software title has been whitelisted.

This time, it appears to be either a leak or an unintentional mistake by Nintendo where they accidentally listed a different firmware update in the patch notes.
