The company added the feature to the desktop version of YouTube a year ago and has been met with much demand from consumers to implement the same feature in the mobile apps.
Ever since Google included a dark mode for YouTube on desktop, it was only a matter of time until the feature would be supported on the mobile app.
Youtube is going dark on iOS and Android with a new update.
The company is today rolling out a new dark theme for YouTube on the iPhone, and it'll be bringing the new dark theme to Android devices sometime soon. Once installed, users are able to select their profile header and navigate to a new page where they are given the option to pick either the default light theme or switch to the new dark theme.

YouTube has actually been testing the dark mode within the iOS app for a few months already, and the company revealed that it has become one of the most requested features on mobile since the theme launched on the desktop in May.
Google also teased the feature as recently as January, when the dark mode was found within the app's code.
With the Dark Mode, essentially all of the White you see in the UI will be turned Black, making for a much darker browsing and viewing experience. That list includes Twitter and third-party Twitter clients, Reddit and third-party Reddit clients, Feedly, Pocket Casts, and more.
