Ed Sheeran blasts reporter for tabloid fence fiction

Ed Sheeran could be flexing his acting muscles once more, after being in talks to appear in Danny Boyle's latest Beatles-themed movie.

The Mail On Sunday reports that the singer-songwriter will appear in a new musical comedy project directed by Trainspotting's Boyle and written by Notting Hill's Curtis. The news comes from the pages of the Daily Mail in the United Kingdom, who say that Sheeran is set to play the new comedy - tentatively titled All You Need Is Love. He is the biggest hit-maker on the planet. What we do know is that Lily James (Baby Driver) and Himesh Patel (Eastenders) will star in it, with SNL actress Kate McKinnon in discussions for it. Sheeran also has experience contributing music to movies, writing and performing the original song "I See Fire" from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. In 2014, the 27-year old musician was a guest on The Night That Changed America, a Grammys tribute to mark the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' first appearance on The Ed Sullivan show in 1964. An unnamed source close to the studio behind the movie told the Daily Mail, "Everything Ed touches turns to gold".

His rendition of the foursome's track In My Life was so impressive that The Beatles" Paul McCartney sent Sheeran a signed guitar saying: "For Ed, who is brilliant'. "If anyone can make a film about the Beatles' songs even better musically, it's him".

Shooting will take place over the summer for a 2019 release.
