"Mischief makers" twist President's comment on Nigerian youths - Adesina

North West zonal office of the Sule Lamido for President 2019 Campaign Organisation on Thursday in Kaduna lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari for describing Nigerian youths as lazy.

"We are completely disappointed in Buhari and we will never make this mistake again", Yerima said.

While speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster on Wednesday, Buhari said a lot of Nigerian youth have not been to school and they want everything free because Nigeria is an oil producing state.

He said it was bad enough that the president spoke in an global event where other nationalities were present, stressing that it was regrettable that the President would speak so of younger Nigerians who put their lives on the line to install the Buhari government.

"But elementary English recognises a wide gulf between "a lot of" and the word "all".

"It can only exist in the imagination of those who play what the President has described as "irresponsible politics" with everything", Adesina said. President Buhari has always applauded and celebrated Nigerian youths who excel in different areas of endeavour, from sports, to academia, and other realms.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, says it is important for the Federal Government to regconise the fact that the youths are the nation's greatest asset. "And he will continue to do so, because he values the youths, and knows that they are the fulcrum on which the future of the country rests", he said.

"If you look at the arrangement, the appointment, and how the government relates with the youths of this country, you will see that they do not have respect for the Nigerian youths despite the contributions of the youths".

"President Buhari should have instead told the world that this All Progressives Congress (APC) administration has incurred a debt of over N11 trillion in just three years without any completed project, especially socio-economic infrastructural projects that will drive youth entrepreneurship, to show for it in his third anniversary as President. Was President Buhari unaware of this?".

"It is futile for mischief makers to lie in wait, and take a minor part of the words of the President, and turn it into negative commentary, peradventure they could diminish the profile of the President".
