Sega Ages for Switch Series Could Include Games for Saturn and Dreamcast

More than 15 games will eventually make their way to the console, 5 games were already revealed during Sega Fes, an event for Sega fans in Tokio: Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, Thunder Force IV, Gain Ground and Alex Kidd.

The first Sega Ages games will be released this summer in Japan.

Over the weekend Sega announced that a range of Sega Ages titles would be coming to the Switch, all of them from the Megadrive. The new Switch Sega Ages games will be the work of retro masters M2 (who also handled the original Sega Saturn releases).

In addition to delivering the top-notch emulation M2 is known for, the new Sega Ages re-releases will include new content and features. The Mega Drive has seen a miniature version released in the past, although it wasn't manufactured by Sega and suffered from multiple emulation issues, so hopefully this one will fare a lot better. Plus Genesis versions of Thunder Force IV, Sonic the Hedgehod, and the original arcade version of Gain Ground.

No word on an official price point yet, but expect more details to emerge as we approach a firm release date in the summer.

Some of you may remember that SEGA AGES originally launched on the SEGA Saturn in 1996 in Japan, bringing enhanced arcade ports of Puzzle & Action: Tant-R and Quiz Shukudai wo Wasuremashita to home consoles.
