Sridevi named Best Actress at National Awards 2018, Baahubali 2 wins big

Best Film Critic award was given to Giridhar Jha for his writings covering vast horizon of Hindi cinema with authenticity and originality. On behalf of Boney, Janhvi and Khushi, the statement read, "We are overjoyed to know that the Jury has conferred the Best Actor Award to Sridevi for her performance in MOM".

"Water Baby" directed by Pia Shah, won the Best Debut Film of a Director in the Non Feature Film category.

Sridevi Kapoor, the late veteran Bollywood actress has been posthumously named the Best Actress for her role in the Hindi film, Mom today at the 65th National Film Awards.

Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Grammy winning composer A.R. Rahman won music awards for "Kaatru Veliyidai" and "Mom". Indrans won the Best Actor award in the Kerala State Film Awards that were announced last month. "The expectations will be high for our next project and we will try to reach it. Paddayi is also selected for the forthcoming U.S. film festival". Hindi films can not compete with them, not in the state they are.

Take off won the award for the Best Production Design. A special mention went to its actor Pankaj Tripathi for his portrayal of a cynical CRPF officer, Atma Singh. The film was also recognised for original screenplay and best Malayalam film.

Cutting across language barriers, special mentions were given to films - such as "Kaccha Limbu" (Marathi), "Hello Arsi" (Odiya) and "Take Off" (Malayalam)".

"Mhorkya" was adjudged the best children's film. The award for the Best Jasari Film was given to "Sinjar", Best Tulu Film to "Paddayi" and the Best Ladakhi Film to "Walking With The Wind". Over the next one hour, regional films and filmmakers registered their presence in a big way among the winners in 33 categories in the Feature Film section.
