Tigers and Lugnuts Postponed, Re-scheduled

Liriano will not make his scheduled start Sunday against the Yankees as the game has been postponed due to inclement weather, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The Yankees and Tigers were rained out Saturday in what had been New York's only scheduled visit to Detroit this year. Updates with Game 2 postponed. Rather than use up two of those days for one game each, both clubs and Major League Baseball have agreed on just holding a doubleheader.

The mixture of cold, ice, hail and snow ripping through MI postponed baseball games for the Lansing Lugnuts and the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. It's also the date of the MLB Draft for which the Tigers have the first overall selection. It's not even clear if the Tigers and Yankees will be able to get their night game in, as The Weather Network is forecasting a 90-percent chance of rain Sunday evening, with a game-time temperature of 43 degrees and a 37-degree windchill.

Game 2 remains scheduled for 7:10 PM ET but that might not be played either.

The Tigers will stay in rotation through Sunday's split doubleheader.

Baltimore is playing the third of a four-game set in Boston against the Red Sox on Sunday and will wrap up that series on Monday, as part of the annual "Patriots Day" celebration in Boston.

The Yankees beat the Tigers 8-6 on Friday in the first game of their three-game series.
