Trump gives vote of confidence to legal team

President Trump promised to strike Syria and warned Russian Federation against supporting Bashar al-Assad.

It's been a busy week at the White House.

"We have been advised that the president certainly has the power to make that decision", White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said of the possibility to remove Mueller.

"Trump can order Rosenstein to fire Mueller", Kent said.

Last month, Trump expressed his desire to sit down with Mueller's investigators.

"If the president is thinking of using this raid to fire Special Counsel Mueller or otherwise interfere with the chain of command in the Russian Federation probe, we Democrats have one simple message for him: don't", top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer said.

"I have agreed with the historically cooperative, disciplined approach that we have engaged in with Robert Mueller", Trump said on Twitter.

Now that the interview is likely off, Mueller's obstruction of justice case may close more quickly than expected because the special counsel's team won't need to prepare for the interview or follow up on what Trump would have said during it, NBC reported.

"Mr. Mueller may be fired only by the acting attorney general and only for 'good cause, '" Shane said.

"Untrue", White Residence lawyer Ty Cobb suggested Fox Info.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is poised to move forward with legislation to protect special counsel Robert Mueller, a significant shift that comes amid growing pressure from Democrats.

"I haven't seen a clear indication yet that we needed to pass something to keep him from being removed because I don't think that's going to happen, and that remains my view", McConnell said. Trump has called the raids a "witch hunt" and "an attack on our country".

"I think it would be a massive mistake for the president to do anything to interfere with this investigation", said Corker, adding, "he knows most every Republican senator feels that way".

The raids were prompted by a referral from Mueller, answering to Rosenstein.

In response to the raid of his personal lawyer's home, office, and hotel room on Monday, President Trump is considering firing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, several people with knowledge of the discussions told CNN. "This whole thing is an absurdity", the former House speaker, another Trump ally, said Wednesday on Fox News.

'If you say his name in front of the president, it's not a pretty sight, ' a senior administration official told the newspaper. Khuzami, a former head of enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission, only joined the U.S. Attorney's office in January after he was brought in by Berman, who himself is still waiting to see if Trump will nominate him to have the job permanently.
