West Ham United's Andy Carroll pleased with point against Stoke City

Peter Crouch climbed off the bench to take advantage of a Joe Hart error to put the visitors ahead before Andy Carroll struck late on to snatch victory away from the Potters.

West Ham United's Andy Carroll celebrates after scoring the equaliser against Stoke City, April 17, 2018.

Stoke City manager Paul Lambert had nothing but praise for his team despite them conceding an added-time equaliser at West Ham United on Monday and was convinced they could still produce a great escape to maintain their Premier League status.

It looked as if it had paid off in some style when Hart spilled Xherdan Shaqiri's shot and Crouch turned home from close range. We played good in parts of the game, it was just the fact we went one behind, because if anyone was going to score first I thought it would be us.

"It is a blow because we were so close to winning. We don't need to put any extra pressure on ourselves".

"If we can do that (beat Burnley), it will set the cat right among the pigeons", said Lambert. "We've had some really good games but have been unfortunate with Lady Luck".

Carroll's third goal of the season - in his first appearance since January - was a priceless contribution for West Ham, who are now seven points above the bottom three.

Jack Butland starts in goal, and will see Kurt Zouma, Ryan Shawcross, Bruno Martins Indi and Erik Pieters form the defence in front of him this evening.

After West Ham's crucial home win over Southampton and a well-earned point at Chelsea, David Moyes' side were in confident mood and could have broken the deadlock after 55 minutes when former Stoke forward Marko Arnautovic directed a powerful header past Butland but was given offside.

Oliver and his wife were subjected to social media threats over the incident that led to Juventus's elimination.

Their goal killed us... it would have been vital three points, a lifeline.

Then a low Edimilson Fernandes drive flew past Butland but Arnautovic, this time clearly offside, was in the keeper's way. "I'm pleased with the team's performance, I thought we played well".
