Could Harry Potter, Mean Girls and Frozen land Tony nods today?

The Band's Visit, a heart-warming musical about Egyptian musicians visiting Israel, Angels In America, set against the 1980s Aids crisis, and a revival of Rogers and Hammerstein's Carousel all scooped 11 nominations apiece.

The 72nd annual Tony Award nominations were announced on Tuesday morning by Katharine McPhee (Waitress) and Leslie Odom Jr. Both shows were nominated for best play revival.

The noms for the 72nd Annual Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards were announced in New York City by Tony and Grammy-winner Leslie Odom, Jr. and Katharine McPhee, the latter of whom's now starring in the Tony-nominated musical Waitress. It is based on an original new Harry Potter story.

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child", a new play about the grown wizard and his troubled relationship with his teen-aged son, won 10 nominations, including best play and best actor for star Jamie Parker.

The best musical revival will likely include "Carousel" and "My Fair Lady", while the best play revival will probably be led by "Angels in America", "Three Tall Women" and "The Iceman Cometh".

In the play categories, Amy Schumer scored a nod for Steve Martin's comedy Meteor Shower, but numerous season's other big names were passed over, including Captain America Chris Evans, whose Lobby Hero co-stars Michael Cera and Brian Tyree Henry both landed Featured Actor nominations. Will you be tuning in June 10 to see if Frozen can walk away with the Tony for Best Musical? While "Hamilton" was nominated for 16 awards in 2016 and went on to win 11, just a year ago "Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812" earned a leading 12 nominations but got just two technical awards on the big night.
