Duchess Meghan makes first joint appearance with queen

In fact, the newly minted Duchess of Sussex appeared to make the Queen chuckle as she leaned toward her in one photo, and the adorable giggly scene quickly made the rounds online as people pointed out that the two are already getting along famously.

The duo, who both wore looks reminiscent of their royal wedding ensembles, looked lovely for the day out.

The Queen, who is known for her signature bright block colours and matching hats, wore a spring green coat by Stewart Parvin and matching hat by Rachel Trevor Morgan.

While we were busy noticing how thoughtful Prince Harry was with Meghan Markle on the balcony during their Trooping The Colour appearance, and the sweet moment she shared with sister-in-law Kate Middleton, we nearly missed one key detail: that her dress was a subtle nod to Princess Diana.

For the Duchess, this will have been on the royal train in the morning, before they embarked on the day of joint engagements.

Meghan kept fiddling with her hair, which is a pure sign of nerves.

But the opening event was at the Catalyst Museum in West Bank, Widnes, which offers a bird's eye view of the new crossing from the glass top observation gallery.

Judging by their interactions today it won't be long until newly-married Meghan will be on "Mama" terms with her husband's grandma.

Next, the royal duo will open the Storyhouse Theater in Chester, a walled-off city in Cheshire.

This was the first time the Duchess has attended an engagement without her 33-year-old husband by her side but she seemed to be at ease as she accompanied the queen.

The woman then told her to "give our love to Harry", to which the Duchess replied: "I will do".

However, she was able to enjoy a period of relaxation before she was thrown in the deep end though as she and Harry recently enjoyed their honeymoon after they were forced to delay it for his father Charles' 70th birthday celebrations.
