Guardiola: Toure knows he’s spreading lies

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hit back at Yaya Toure after the Ivory Coast midfielder accused him of "having problems with Africans", insisting it is a lie. Do you really think he could've been like that with Andres Iniesta?

Manchester City coach Josep Guardiola says that he will never coach Barcelona again.

Guardiola has now responded to the comments from his former player, telling Catalan television station TV3 in quotes reported by the Spanish press: "It's a lie and he knows it".

'We were together two years and it is only now when he says it.

In a scathing and explosive interview with France Football last week, Toure said that Guardiola was cruel to him during their time together in Spain and that he began to wonder if his perceived mistreatment from his manager stemmed from a race issue.

"I am not the first to talk about these differences in treatment". Maybe it's the case that we Africans aren't always treated by certain people in the same way that they treat others. "He never told me face to face", he added. "When you see the problems [Pep] has often had with African players, everywhere he has been, I ask myself questions".

Toure and Guardiola have clashed in the past, and his agent, Dimitri Seluk, went one step further, insisting that calling the Catalan a "dog" - which another representative, Mino Raiola, did previously - is too kind to the City boss. "But the day he picks a team with five Africans in, I promise I will send him a cake!"

Toure played his final game for City late in the season against Brighton & Hove Albion and was given a tremendous send-off by the Etihad Stadium.
