Microsoft May Have Already Had the Best E3 2018 Press Conference

Microsoft has opened strong with its Xbox E3 2018 showcase, with a teaser for Halo Infinite, the next entry in Master Chief's ongoing adventure.

Also of note was Microsoft's pledge to make games ready to play far quicker with Fast Start, which actually seems to align with the console's initial plans for nearly immediate play. Although, to be fair, this is the first time that a Kingdom Hearts game has come to Xbox, like, ever, so that's something to be excited about.

Spencer announced that Microsoft is adding five game development studios to its Microsoft Studios family.

And yet, in spite of the 50 game trailers shown on-stage at the Microsoft Theater that included a new Halo game and Gears of War 5, there was something desperately missing: any mention of virtual reality. We Happy Few officially launches August 10th for Xbox One and Windows 10.

343 added that waiting for a new Halo game can be difficult-indeed, it has been nearly three years since Halo 5 was released in 2015.

The game is being developed by 343 Industries in the new Slipstream Engine, which we don't know much about yet but it will undoubtedly be an improvement on past Halo engines. By joining the team at Microsoft Studios, Compulsion will have the resources, platform and freedom to take even bigger creative risks and create even more ambitious worlds with its future projects. We got to see the game in action at Microsoft's E3 press conference. In fact, we can't actually verify that Rare is working on this game, but we'd be shocked if that wasn't the case. Its investment into cloud-based gaming with Microsoft AI is interesting, with game streaming clearly high on its list of priorities.

"With the ultimate freedom to explore and play over 100 great games, Xbox Game Pass delivers our members an incredible value in gaming". But for Halo Infinite, the game "will focus on the Master Chief and continue his saga after the events of Halo 5".
