Xbox division head Phil Spencer recently announced that Ninja Theory, Playground Games, Undead Labs and Compulsion Games are now part of the company's internal Microsoft Game Studios division, signalling a big new investment into games creation.

Three years later, Xbox's backward compatibility for older games has become one of the console's defining features.

"When we started this project, the team's vision for the game was ambitious - so much so that we knew we had to build new tech to fully realize our goals for Halo Infinite".

In the same keynote, Microsoft announced it has bought Playground Games, the developer of the Forza series, with which it has worked closely for years.

Forza Horizon 4 is the fourth title in a series of racing games by Xbox.

Microsoft also revealed several new Gears of War games. With the new "Forza Horizon 4", they have taken open world gaming experiences to the next level.

There's been no fighting game specific cues as of yet and it's wholly possible that we won't see any directly FGC-related content in today's conference, but the well is deep and the possibilities are endless.

The release of the game was announced at worldwide gaming event E3 in Los Angeles. 343 Studios outright states that the game is still in its early stages and we won't see it out for quite some time.

Microsoft kicked off its E3 2018 press conference with a small teaser for the next Halo, called Halo Infinite.

In recent years, Microsoft has suffered from the perception that it has lagged behind Sony as far as having a vibrant first-party development organisation delivering exclusive games for its console is concerned.

That's frustrating for gamers who can't wait to play and it may also be a signal as to when the game is coming out.
