Official says Cohen prosecutors will get phone contents soon

In a report to U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood, court-appointed special master Barbara Jones said she was readying the transfer of 1,025,363 pieces of information seized from three Cohen phones to the government. More specifically, it was Avenatti's pro hac vice motion to appear in the Southern District, which has been actively and, during the hearing, vocally opposed by Cohen's attorney, McDermott Will & Emery attorney Stephen Ryan.

Wood also noted that Avenatti could potentially affect whether Cohen is given a fair trial, if the case ever gets far. If you participate here, you would not be able to declare your opinion as to Mr. Cohen's guilt, which you did; you would not be able to give publicity to documents that are not public.

In their initial request for a special master, Cohen's attorneys said thousands of the seized documents might be covered by attorney-client privilege.

The judge asked Cohen's lawyer Todd Harrison if he could give the feds the passwords to the Blackberries.

Wood was not persuaded, dismissing Cohen's concerns and those of an attorney for the Trump Organization who argued that a faster pace might degrade the review.

At a court hearing in Lower Manhattan, Wood sided with prosecutors in announcing a June 15 deadline for Cohen, President Trump's long-time fixer, to make all remaining claims of attorney-client privilege.

In the recent dust-up with the Journal, Avenatti said he was completely cooperating with federal authorities regarding the investigation into Cohen, and that he and Daniels would continue cooperating.

He told reporters that Cohen's lawyer revealed in court on Wednesday "that there are audio recordings that Michael Cohen was taking for years". Ryan protested that the barrage was improper, saying Avenatti was on television at least 170 times, mostly to badmouth Cohen.

The president, who acknowledged reimbursing Cohen for the hush-money settlement struck on the eve of the 2016 presidential election, denied having an affair with Daniels.

Among other things, he accused Cohen's lawyers of giving a journalist an audio recording of a conversation between Daniels' former lawyer and Cohen.

If he were allowed to represent his client before the court, Avenatti would have to stop his "publicity tour"-Wood said the term was not meant "in degradation", but as something he was able to do now, but which he wouldn't should he get to participate in the matter before her". Avenatti's firm was hit with the judgment in U.S. Bankruptcy Court after he had previously agreed to pay $2 million to a former colleague, Josh Frank.

Clifford's request to intervene is being held in abeyance at the request of the government and with Avenatti's consent. Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, has also filed a suit against Cohen, claiming a nondisclosure agreement she struck with Trump is null and void.

Michael Cohen's legal team says dossier released by Stormy Daniels" lawyer includes information about other people named Michael Cohen; reaction on "The Ingraham Angle'.

"It's important for the court to balance the slow, deliberate needs of claiming attorney-client privilege with the need of the investigation to go forward", she said. Jones said she was set to receive 1 million more files from three of Cohen's cellphones and had already reviewed nearly 300,000 files. Wood said that was too long. She said that while Avenatti argued that the firm in the bankruptcy case was not involved with Daniels' litigation, it had sent emails regarding her case.
