Resident Evil 2 Is a Brilliant and Terrifying Reinvention

For the uninitiated, players can unlock special game modes called The Fourth Survivor and The Tofu Survivor in the original Resident Evil 2 by completing certain conditions.

Did you watch the Resident Evil 2 remake debut trailer?

Resident Evil 2 originally launched in 1998 and is considered a cult classic.

Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 2 remake will include Tofu as an unlockable bonus as per the original game, alongside The Fourth Survivor mode featuring gas-masked fan-favourite Umbrella Agent Hunk. Spoiler: the game still looks incredibly scary and has clearly benefited from the changes that Capcom has made to its controls and visuals. Perhaps the biggest change is the switch to an over-the-shoulder camera, like the one used in Resident Evil 4, as opposed to the fixed camera angles seen in the PS1-era Resident Evil games. The announcement included a horrific new trailer showing a high-definition vision of Raccoon City overrun by voracious hordes of the undead. Players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City that transformed its population into deadly zombies.

This is not the first time that Resident Evil 2 has made a come back. Both Leon and Claire have their own playable campaigns, allowing gamers to see the story from a different point of view. This could turn out to be the definitive Resident Evil experience on the current generation consoles with a great mix of Survival Horror and Action that is typically expected from the game.

Are you looking forward to playing Resident Evil 2 again?

Resident Evil 2 will rise once again on PS4, Xbox One and PC January 25, 2019.
