Robert De Niro bleeped at Tony Awards for Pres. Trump F-bomb

De Niro received a standing ovation from the audience when he dropped F-bombs at Trump with his fists in the air during the 72nd annual Tony Awards.

He blasted, "I'm just going to say one thing". "It's no longer 'down with Trump.' It's 'f**k Trump!'" he added.

De Niro's distaste for Trump goes way back - as early as October 2016, he was saying he'd love to punch the then-candidate in the face, referring to him as "blatantly stupid", a "punk", a "dog", a "pig", a "bullsh-t artist", and a "mutt" who "doesn't do his homework, doesn't care, thinks he's gaming society, doesn't pay his taxes".

De Niro and Springsteen visited the White House in 2009 as both were recipients of the Kennedy Center Honors that year.

"Bruce, you can rock the house like nobody else and even more importantly in these perilous times, you rock the vote, always fighting for, in your own words, truth, transparency and integrity in government", he said.

USA network CBS had a 10-second delay on the broadcast, which ensured that De Niro's outburst was not seen by the millions watching on terrestrial television. "Boy, do we need that now!"

Robert De Niro isn't one to mince his words when talking about Donald Trump and Sunday night was no different, as he took the stage at the 2018 Tony Awards to have his say.

When hosts Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban came back onstage, they were dressed in each other's characters in the musicals they were in - with her in a beard and him in a short waitress outfit.

And he said of the actor, "it's Robert De Niro".

"After De Niro, CBS told us to do something drastic, so here we are", Groban joked.

Social media erupted in reaction, with many expressing their support for the actor.
