Secrecy Lifted on Kim Jong-un's Latest China Trip

South Korea's Foreign Ministry spokesman said Seoul and Beijing shared the strategic goal of completely denuclearising the Korean peninsula, reported Reuters. It follows his Singapore summit, where Mr Kim and Mr Trump reaffirmed a commitment to work towards denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.

Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at a historic summit last week in Singapore, and said in a news conference afterwards that Kim had agreed to return the remains of USA soldiers.

The Philippines, along with some other members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, has overlapping territorial claims with China in the disputed sea.

Kim Jong Un's North Korea is expected to transfer up to 200 sets of U.S. servicemen's remains. The U.S. and South Korea suspended a major joint military exercise that was planned in August in what was seen as a major victory for North Korea and its chief allies, China and Russian Federation.

But the city suddenly cancelled all preparations late Wednesday after being instructed by the government that "drills should be postponed for the time being following a change in the environment after the US-North Korea summit", he said.

In March, Mr Kim visited China for the first time in his six years in office, prior to his summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

President Donald Trump raised the likelihood of the repatriation of remains last week, in the wake of his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

According to the Pentagon, more than 36,500 U.S. soldiers died in the Korean War between 1950 and 1953.

The site in question is the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground where North Korea has previously tested "liquid-propellant engines for its long-range ballistic missiles", according to a USA official who spoke to Reuters.

The U.S. military will then perform a short ceremony before sending the remains to Hawaii, where they might be properly identified through DNA testing.

The KCNA added that the two leaders exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, including the prospects for denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, and reached consensus on those discussed issues.

Multiple locations, including a gift shop at the DMZ and stamp shops in Pyongyang and Kaesong, have apparently removed anti-American postcards, posters, and stamps which used to be offered to tourists, said Rowan Beard, a tour manager for Young Pioneer Tours.

"And (Kim) agreed to that so quickly and so nice - it was really a very nice thing, and he understands it", Trump added.

According to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency's website, North Korea has returned the remains of at least 3,200 Americans since the signing of the armistice suspending hostilities in 1953.

Chinese media reported that in the Tuesday talks, Xi told Kim that he hopes Pyongyang and Washington can fully implement the summit outcomes and that China would "as always play a constructive role" in that process.

China backs the North's call for a "phased and synchronous" approach to denuclearization, as opposed to Washington's demand for an instant, total and irreversible end to the North's nuclear programs.

Former president Barack Obama supported South Korea's rejection of a nuclearized North Korea and said threats from North Korea would result in its isolation from the global community.
