What Meghan's dad made Prince Harry promise before he blessed their marriage

The Duchess of Sussex's father has revealed what he made Prince Harry pledge when he asked for permission to marry his daughter. You can see photos of Meghan wearing the flawless, floral, floor-length wrap dress over at the Daily Mail.

"Harry asked for her hand over the phone and I said, 'You're a gentleman".

Speaking about why he initially thought it was a good idea, Thomas told GMB's Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid: "This was a presentation to me, to change my image because in the previous year photographs of me were always derogatory, so I thought this would be a nice way of improving my look".

Just hours after revealing he wouldn't be at the wedding back in May, Thomas was then admitted to hospital for heart surgery, where he reportedly had three stents placed in his blood vessels after suffering a heart attack.

Meghan Markle has turned out to be a new favourite among netizens for reasons good and bad.

"Meghan cried, I'm sure, and they both said 'Take care of yourself, we are really anxious about you, '" he said.

In the run-up to the wedding Mr Markle became embroiled in a controversy over reports he had staged paparazzi photos of himself in wedding-related activities, such as being measured for a new suit.

"How could I have asked for a better replacement than Charles?..."

"It was incredible watching her", he said.

Meghan's fashionable life came under the spotlight last week via comments made by designer Stella McCartney, who made the duchess' evening wedding reception halterneck dress. I couldn't be more proud of those two and I think they'll do great. Luckily, the crisis was averted, as Harry steadied her balance, like a total prince.

"Watching it was hard for me, because I wasn't there, but at the same time I'm watching my daughter being watched by the entire world".

Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, was the only member of her family in attendance on the day.

Prince Charles walked the duchess down the aisle instead. I realised it was a serious mistake.
